Prize-winners Tour 2007

The third edition of the Prize-winners Tour, taking place in October 2007, had as participants the prize-winners of the last two competitions Jeunesses International Music Competition. Martin Ivanov, Benjamin Boursier and Leonard Mocanu are the three musicians who made the concert halls vibrate in Bucharest, Sibiu, Brasov, Ploiesti, Constanta and other cities around the country.

The Tour’s highlight was the concert in Sibiu, European Capital of Culture in 2007. The three gave an exceptional performance along with The Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra, in the special space of Thalia Hall, a real architectural jewelry.

Benjamin Boursier / France - violin
Out of his impressive CV one must mention that he performed as a soloist of Lysy Camerata, with which he had tournaments in Switzerland – Geneva, Zurich, Bern, and Japan – Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, he was awarded with the Gold Medal at the National Conservatory in Paris; he participated at the Menuhin Festival/ Switzerland, Estoril Festival/ Portugal, Murcia Festival/ Spain, and last but not least he received the Special Prize at the Jeunesses International Music Competition Bucharest 2007.

Martin Ivanov / Bulgaria – piano
Martin is one of those young musicians whose future is easy to foresee. With a surprising force and a very good technique, at just 17 years he promises to become one of the best pianists in SE Europe. He has won numerous national and international awards – 1st Prize at the “Maria Yudina” Competition/ Saint-Petersburg, Russia; Award for Excellence in Music at the International Festival “Peter the Great”, Groningen, Netherlands; Second Prize at the International Competition “Albert Russell” Sofia, Bulgaria; and Special Prize Jeunesses Musicales. In Martin Ivanov’s interpretation the public discovered a dynamic musician with a surprising inner force at this age.

Leonard Mocanu / Romania - piano
At only 16 years, still a student at the “Dinu Lipatti” high-school in Bucharest, Leonard has proven the true lyricism of a musician, his manner of interpretation convincing the public that in front of him stands a real talent. Among the won distinctions are 1st Prize at the national music Olympics, 1st Medal at the National Competition of France and Second Prize at the Jeunesses International Music Competition Bucharest.
